(Nonhomogeneous heat equation) Show that the problem modeled by and (2), (3) can be reduced to a problem for the homogeneous heat equation by setting u(x, t) = vex, t) + w(x) and determining w so that v satisfies the homogeneous PDE and the conditions v(O, t) = veL, t) = 0, v(x.O) = f(x) - w(x). (The term Ne- ax may represent heat loss due to radioactive decay in the bar.)
