When a guitar string is plucked, the frequency of the note

Chapter , Problem 65

(choose chapter or problem)

When a guitar string is plucked, the frequency of the note produced can be adjusted by varying the length of the string. The frequency is inversely proportional to the length, so a longer string results in a lower frequency, while a shorter string results in a higher frequency. Is the length of the string directly proportional or inversely proportional to the frequency?
