Show that x1(t) and x2(t) given by equations (4) and (5)

Chapter 9, Problem 16E

(choose chapter or problem)

16. Show that \(x_{1}(t) \text { and } x_{2}(t)\) given by equations (4) and (5) can be obtained as linear combinations of \(w_{1}(t) \text { and } w_{2}(t)\) given by equations (2) and (3). [Hint: Show that

\(x_{1}(t)=\frac{w_{1}(t)+w_{2}(t)}{2}, x_{2}(t)=\frac{w_{1}(t)-w_{2}(t)}{2 i}  \end{aligned}\)

x1(t) and x2(t)

w1(t) and w2(t)

x1(t)=w1(t) + w2(t)2, x2(t)=w1(t) - w2(t)2i
