When a gas is rapidly compressed (say, by pushing down apiston) its temperature increases. When a gas expandsagainst a piston, it cools. Explain these changes in temperatureusing the kinetic theory, in particular noting whathappens to the momentum of molecules when they strikethe moving piston.
