Refer to Exercise 5.20 again. Suppose that specifications by a buyer of the thread are that the tensile strength of the material must be at least 62 kilograms. The manufacturer is satisfied if at most 5% of the manufactured pieces have tensile strength less than 62 kilograms. Is there cause for concern? Use a one-sided 99% tolerance limit that is exceeded by 95% of the tensile strength values.
