A formula we gave for conditional probability is P(E2 E1)

Chapter 12, Problem 12.1.458

(choose chapter or problem)

A formula we gave for conditional probability is P(E2 E1) = n (E1 and E2) n (E1) This formula may be derived from the formula P(E2 E1) = P(E1 and E2) P(E1) Can you explain why? [Hint: Consider what happens to the denominators of P(E1 and E2) and P(E1,) when they are expressed as fractions and the fractions are divided out.]
