Chemical Equilibrium and the Energy BalanceA gaseous

Chapter 14, Problem 52P

(choose chapter or problem)

A gaseous mixture of carbon monoxide and the theoretical amount of air at 260°F, 1.5 atm enters an insulated reactor operating at steady state. An equilibrium mixture of \(\mathrm{CO}_{2}\), CO, \(\mathrm{O}_{2}\) and \(\mathrm{N}_{2}\) exits at 1.5 atm. Determine the temperature of the exiting mixture, in °R. Kinetic and potential energy effects are negligible.
