Figure P4.87 shows a mass m with an attached stiffness, such as that due to protective packaging. The mass drops a distance h, at which time the stiffness element contacts the ground. Let x denote the displacement of m after contact with the ground. Determine the maximum required stiffness of the packaging if a 10 kg package cannot experience a deceleration greater than 8g when dropped from a height of 2 m.
