Explain why the following test for symmetry is valid: Replace r by -r and 0 by -0 in a polar equation. If an equivalent equation results, the graph is symmetric with respect to the 7T line 0 = "2 (y-axis). (a) Show that the test on page 727 fails for r2 = cos 0, yet this new test works. (b) Show that the test on page 727 works for r2 = sin 0, yet this new test fails.
