Neurons in our bodies carry weak currents thatproduce

Chapter , Problem 45

(choose chapter or problem)

Neurons in our bodies carry weak currents thatproduce detectable magnetic fields. A technique calledmagnetoencephalography, or MEG, is used to study electricalactivity in the brain using this concept. Thistechnique is capable of detecting magnetic fields asweak as 1.0 3 10215 T. Model the neuron as a long wirecarrying a current and find the current it must carryto produce a field of this magnitude at a distance of4.0 cm from the neuron.
