Solved: Assume the intensity of solar radiation incident

Chapter 34, Problem 55

(choose chapter or problem)

Assume the intensity of solar radiation incident on the cloud tops of the Earth is 1 \(370 \mathrm{~W} / \mathrm{m}^{2}\). (a) Taking the average EarthSun separation to be \(1.496 \times 10^{11}\) m, calculate the total power radiated by the Sun. Determine the maximum values of (b) the electric field and (c) the magnetic field in the sunlight at the Earth's location.
