Wood has a very low conductivity. Does it still have alow conductivity if it is very hotthat is, in the stage ofsmoldering red-hot coals? Could you safely walk across a bed of red-hot wooden coals with bare feet? Although thecoals are hot, does much heat conduct from them to yourfeet if you step quickly? Could you do the same on piecesof red-hot iron? Explain. (CAUTION: Coals can stick toyour feet, so ouchdont try it!)
