(choose chapter or problem)

In 1676, the Danish astronomer Ole Roemer had one ofthose Aha! moments in science. He concluded fromaccumulated observations of eclipses of Jupiters moonat different times of the year that light must travel at afinite speed and needed 1300 s to cross the diameter ofEarths orbit around the Sun. Using 300,000,000 km forthe diameter of Earths orbit, calculate the speed of lightbased on Roemers 1300-s estimate. How does it differfrom a modern value for the speed of light?
