Chapter 14, Problem 41

(choose chapter or problem)

The graph shows a proposed layout of an irrigation system. The main water source is located at vertex C. The other vertices represent the proposed sprinkler head locations. The edges indicate all possible choices for installing underground pipes. The weights show the distances, in feet, between proposed sprinkler head locations. The sprinkler system will work if each sprinkler head is connected to the main water source through one or more underground pipes. Use Kruskal’s Algorithm to determine the layout of the irrigation system and the smallest number of feet of underground pipes.
