The electric and magnetic fields of a certain EM wave in

Chapter 31, Problem 31.63

(choose chapter or problem)

The electric and magnetic fields of a certain EM wave in freespace are given by E = E 0 sin (A:* - cot) j + Eqcos (kx cot) kand B = i?0co s^ x ~~ t)j - B0sin(kx cot)k. (a) Showthat E and B are perpendicular to each other at all times, (b) Forthis wave, E and B are in a plane parallel to the yz plane.Show that the wave moves in a direction perpendicular toboth E and B. (c) At any arbitrary choice of position x andtime t, show that the magnitudes of E and B always equal E qand Bq, respectively. (d) At x = 0, draw the orientationof E and B in the yz plane at t = 0. Then qualitatively describethe motion of these vectors in the yz plane as time increases.[Note: The EM wave in this circularly polarized.]
