Babys Sleeping Position Does a babyssleeping position affect the development of motorskills? In one study, published in the Archives ofPediatric Adolescent Medicine, 343 full-term infantswere examined at their 4-month checkups for variousdevelopmental milestones, such as rolling over,grasping a rattle, reaching for an object, and soon.16 The babys predominant sleep positioneitherprone (on the stomach) or supine (on the back) or sidewas determined by a telephone interview withthe parent.
