An automobile with a standard differential is stuck on an icy road, to the extent that the car does not move. The frustrated (and not very intelligent!) driver floors the accelerator and notes that the speedometer reads 75 mph. To what normal car speed does the rotation of the spinning wheel correspond? (This illustrates the kind of “foreseeable abuse” that the engineer needs to take into consideration.)
