Refer to Exercise 62, but assume there are 10 homes in the Quail Creek area and four of them have a security system. Three homes are selected at random:

a. What is the probability all three of the selected homes have a security system?

b. What is the probability none of the three selected homes have a security system?

c. What is the probability at least one of the selected homes has a security system?

d. Did you assume the events to be dependent or independent?

ANSWER:

Solution

Step 1 of 4

Given that there are 10 homes in quail creek area

Out of 20 homes 4 homes having security system

Out of 20 homes 3 homes are selected at random

a) We have to find the probability that all the selected 3 homes having security system

Now P( 3 homes having security)=

                                                     =1/30

                                                     =0.0333

Hence the probability of all the selected 3 homes having security system is 0.0333
