Estimating vmax and Km from the LineweaverBurk graph as described in is not always

Chapter 1, Problem 87

(choose chapter or problem)

Estimating vmax and Km from the LineweaverBurk graph as described in is not always satisfactory. A different transformation typically yields better estimates (Dowd and Riggs, 1965). Show that the MichaelisMenten equation can be written as v0 s0 = vmax Km 1 Km v0 and explain why this transformation results in a straight line when you graph v0 on the horizontal axis and v0 s0 on the vertical axis. Explain how you can estimate vmax and Km from the graph.
