The free energy _G expended in transporting an uncharged solute across a membrane from

Chapter 1, Problem 99

(choose chapter or problem)

The free energy _G expended in transporting an uncharged solute across a membrane from concentration c1 to one of concentration c2 follows the equation _G = 2.303RT log c2 c1 where R = 1.99 kcalK1 kmol1 is the universal gas constant and T is temperature measured in kelvins (K). Plot _G as a function of the concentration ratio c2/c1 when T = 298 K (25C). Use a coordinate system in which the vertical axis is on a linear scale and the horizontal axis is on a logarithmic scale.
