A bridge over a river was damaged in an earthquake and you are called in to determine the length, d, of the steel beam needed to fill the gap. (See Figure 7.58.) You cannot be on the bridge, but you are able to drop a line from T , the beginning of the bridge, and measure a distance of 50 ft to the point P. From P you find the angles of elevation to the two ends of the gap to be 42 and 35. How wide is the gap?
