QUESTION:
What is spectroscopy, and what can we learn from it?
ANSWER:Problem 21
Briefly discuss how we decide what types of evidence must be explained by a successful theory of solar system formation. Why don’t we expect the theory to explain everything?
Step by step solution
Step 1 of 2
The solar system's formation is explained by a Nebular hypothesis that states that a massive molecular cloud of concentrated gas and dust forms the solar system. The universe's low temperature causes this massive cloud to get dense and collapse due to its gravity. This collapsed cloud forms the small and big galaxy's, stars and number of solar systems.
But this hypothesis does not provide the complete process of formation of the solar system. A successful theory must include the formation process of massive clouds containing dust and gases in this theory. How these dust and gases are available in the universe must be discussed in this theory.
