A chemical reaction involves one molecule of a substance A combining with one molecule of substance B to form one molecule of substance C, written A + B C. The Law of Mass Action states that the rate at which C is formed is proportional to the product of the quantities of A and B present. Assume a and b are the initial quantities of A and B and x is the quantity of C present at time t. (a) Write a differential equation for x. (b) Solve the equation with x(0) = 0
