In FIGURE 8.17.8, the transfer coefficient of 0.3 indicates that, by the end of the summer, 30% of the prior bare space in the field becomes occupied by grasses. (a) Find the transfer matrix T.
(b) Suppose \(\mathbf{X}=\left(\begin{array}{r}10 \\0 \\0\end{array}\right)\) and that area is measured in acres.
Use the recursion formula \(\mathbf{X}_{n+1}=\mathbf{T} \mathbf{X}_{n}\), along with a calculator or a CAS, to determine the ground cover in each of the next 6 years.
