Determine the dilatation e and the change in volume of the 8-in. length of the rod shown if (a) the rod is made of steel with \(E=29 \times 10^{6} \text { psi and } \nu=0.30\), (b) the rod is made of aluminum with \(E=10.6 \times 10^{6} \mathrm{psi} \text { and } \nu=0.35\).
