Consider the problem of finding the distance from a point P(x0, y0) in R2 to a line L
Chapter 5, Problem 21(choose chapter or problem)
Consider the problem of finding the distance from a point P(x0, y0) in R2 to a line L with equation y = mx + b. (a) Show that v = 1, m is a parallel to the line L. (b) Using part (a) and following the approach used to solve 5.2.12 in the text, derive a formula for the distance from P to L.
