A collector of coins has three valuable coins: one black, one gold and one silver. He decides to place these three coins in four drawers. For example, he might place all 3 coins in the second drawer or place the silver coin in the first drawer and the black and gold coins in the 4th drawer. (a) In how many ways can the 3 coins be placed in the 4 drawers? (b) In how many ways can the 3 coins be placed in the 4 drawers such that exactly two of the coins are in the same drawer?
