Chapter 4, Problem 4.39

(choose chapter or problem)

A copper strip \(\left(E_{c}=105 \mathrm{GPa}\right)\) and an aluminum strip \(\left(E_{a}=75 \mathrm{GPa}\right)\) are bonded together to form the composite beam shown. Knowing that the beam is bent about a horizontal axis by a couple of moment \(M=35 \mathrm{~N} \cdot \mathrm{m}\), determine the maximum stress in (a) the aluminum strip, (b) the copper strip.
