Chapter 5, Problem 12

(choose chapter or problem)

By a suitable change of variables it is sometimes possible to transform another differential equation into a Bessel equation. For example, show that a solution of x2 y + 2 2 x2 + 1 4 2 2 y = 0, x > 0 is given by y = x1/2f(x ), where f() is a solution of the Bessel equation of order .
