(choose chapter or problem)

26 through 30 deal with the problem of solving Ax = b when detA = 0.Suppose that detA = 0 and that y is a solution of Ay = 0. Show that if (b, y) = 0 forevery such y, then Ax = b has solutions. Note that this is the converse of 28; theform of the solution is given by 29.Hint: What does the relation Ay = 0 say about the rows of A? Again, it may be helpfulto consider the case n = 2 first.
