To operate the can crusher one pushes down on the lever arm ABC which rotates about the fixed pin at B. This moves the side links CD downward, which causes the guide plate E to also move downward and thereby crush the can. Draw the free-body diagrams of the lever, side link, and guide plate. Make up some reasonable numbers and do an equilibrium analysis to shown how much an applied vertical force at the handle is magnified when it is transmitted to the can. Assume all points of connection are pins and the guides for the plate are smooth. F
