The company wants to send representatives to two different conventions being held simultaneously in Atlanta and Seattle. The company would like to fly up to 12 reps to the Atlanta convention and up to 8 reps to the Seattle convention. A round-trip ticket from Chicago to Atlanta costs approximately $400, from Chicago to Seattle costs approximately $450, from Boston to Atlanta costs approximately $400, and from Boston to Seattle costs approximately $475. (Source: priceline.com) The total flight costs for the trips cannot exceed $7700. (a) Determine how many sales representative should fly from Chicago to Atlanta, from Chicago to Seattle, from Boston to Atlanta, and from Boston to Seattle in order to maximize the number of representatives at the conferences. (b) What is the maximum number of reps that will attend the conferences?
