Solution: Determine the modulus of resilience for each of

Chapter 11, Problem 11.4

(choose chapter or problem)

Determine the modulus of resilience for each of the following alloys:

(a) Titanium: \(E=16.5 \times 10^{6} \mathrm{psi}\) \(\sigma_{Y}=120 \mathrm{ksi}\)

(b) Magnesium: \(E=6.5 \times 10^{6} \mathrm{psi}\) \(\sigma_{Y}=29 \mathrm{ksi}\)

(c) Cupronickel (annealed): \(E=20 \times 10^{6} \mathrm{psi}\) \(\sigma_{Y}=16 \mathrm{ksi}\)
