The control of a paper-making machine is quite complex [27].The goal is to deposit the proper amount of fiber suspension (pulp) at the right speed and in a uniform way. Dewatering, fiber deposition, rolling, and drying then take place in sequence. Control of the paper weight per unit area is very important. For the control system shown in Figure AP9.4. select K so that the phase margin P.M. > 45 and the gain margin G.M. ^ 10 dB. Plot the step response for the selected gain. Determine the bandwidth of the closed-loop system.
