Leydon chose a wide range of film including vignettes to recent series. No tests. Majority of grade comes from final script/s. Option of writing 2 short film scripts (20-30pgs each) or 1 script for a feature length film (80-120pgs). Don't overwhelm on those pg #'s. 1pg of script1pg from a research paper. Just don't procrastinate on final prjct or else you'll drown in all those script pgs I highly recommend his class if you enjoy writing and original plots of work. He wires his students to see stories that don't follow the generic archetypes you are used to seeing being remade time and time again. Great speaker and wished he taught other courses. ...Continue reading

Easygoing prof. No roll call. He is very helpful Attendance is a must. Very small class. He gives pop quizzes for attendance. These pop quizzes are very simple. There are a lot of group projects which makes things a little rough. 2 treatments 1 pitch about 2-3 tv and radio scripts 3PSAs 1 final project/script/short ...Continue reading

Awesome professor. I took him for Media Writing in Broadcast and Film, and he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in the process. He has interviewed every A-list celebrity and director out there and KNOWS what it takes to make it when it comes to writing in ALL fields of writing. Highly recommended :D ...Continue reading

He is awesome! You start the semester by getting in groups and working together for the first half of the semester on different projects and then you go solo to work on your own script and treatment. He does not grade too hard and is super funny. Would take him again in a heart beat! ...Continue reading

Be prepared to write EVERY week. Assignments due every Friday. He has a unique sense of humor and tends to go off track during lecture however, his stories are interesting. Use this time to start writing your papers. He has seen a lot throughout his career and knows what he's talking about. ...Continue reading

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PROF. He is very old school and does not use the internet, check emails, or understand what social media is. He teaches you nothing, so you practically have to guess or go by limited examples. He uses class to talk about random things and not at all about the assignments. Unfair grader and not at all clear about anything. When asked about a certain grade he made no sense and blew me off. Awful teacher. I got an A and though it was a low A said I was top of the class. He's not very clear on what he wants, but here's how you get an A: Do the rewrites. That's the key. Don't get discouraged by a bad first grade. Do the rewrites and depending on the improvements the grade may jump a letter and a half. ...Continue reading

I don't know what else to say but to never. He grades based on his opinions and assumptions rather than by the guidelines he provides. Nothing you write will be good enough for him. He does not lecture, instead he tells stories. If you like getting C's then this is the class for you. ...Continue reading

I actually took his class a while ago. He is very confusing with his lectures and homework. You must sit in all of his classes for him to ramble on about his past If you ask a question he might yell at you. You never use the book and everyone was confused If you are required to take this class, find another professor even if you have to wait. This man will ruin your GPA with C's. Nothing you write will be good enough. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! ...Continue reading

I can not stress how important it is to avoid this professor. and I mean never. EVER. take this man's class. Writing is my strength and no matter what, anything you write will not be good enough for him. This class contains no structure, no guidelines, no TEACHING whatsoever. If he likes you you may get a B-, if he doesn't you're completely screwed. ...Continue reading

I love this guy. The class was really easy, the few assignments we did have were fun. Superbowl Commercial, PSA, News Story, and a documentary over whatever. Grades fairly. And his foul mouth will keep you entertained. I can honestly say I learned and he changed how I view tv now. ...Continue reading

Great professor with lots of experience in the industry. She has worked in TV news most of her career. For those who have not taken previous communication courses, I advise not taking her. She is very advanced and moves at a quick pace. Weekly assignments and attendance taken. Good Professor but not for everyone. It's writing intensive! Expect a 1-3 pg paper due each week, sometimes time in class to write it. 1day she took our class on a tour of a TV station. Textbook rarely ever used. She takes attendance so show up&she gets mad when people come late. Great prof but maybe she should teach COMM3316 Electronic News instead. ...Continue reading
