This class absolutely ruined me. He takes a 1000 level class with basic material and makes it as difficult as possible. I would have a 4.0 if it weren't for Willem. Nerissa is one of the most insightful, compassionate, and cognizant professors I've had thus far. She acknowledges the fact that grammar can be a pretty boring and tedious topic, and does her best to spice it up (and it works). She can be tough, but as long as you put forth a little bit of effort and do the homework, you should be fine. She gives a lot of extra credit, too. She was intelligent, kind, and well-spoken. She is funny and willing to put on a show to demonstrate a point. Greatly enjoyed her, and her course. Comes highly recommended. ...Continue reading

Honestly this man made me want to transfer and change my major. Absolutely avoid taking a class with him unless it is necessary. He is smart man, but his lectures are tremendously boring and he does a poor job making the material understandable. He is the worst test maker I have ever encountered. Ridiculous test questions make exams unnecessarily hard. Make and study note cards. However, he is very unapproachable. He does not answer emails when you ask him questions. During study sessions he can be pretty rude. Also, his tests are very hard, even if you studied thoroughly. Make flashcards, the book is not very helpful. ...Continue reading

The exams were also hard if you don't know the information because they are in depth questions. I would take a different professor if theres a higher rated one. He would often put examples on the board and have to re-do them because he messed up. There is no information about the exams so you never have an idea as to what will be on there.
