Iowa state is an excellent place to do your undergrad and personally I found it really nice not to be in the middle of a hectic city environment while doing it. So happy I chose to come here. Beware, parking is a HASSLE. Learn CyRide routes. The school has an app, MyState, it's super helpful with dining, laundry, CyRide, and campus maps and a bunch of other stuff. The campus is a city inside of another city. I absolutely love it here and am dreading the day I actually have to graduate. Go Cyclones! ...Continue reading

Great campus! The campus is beautiful. The friends I made here are great. The food is better than most schools. The library is awesome. The dorms are larger than typical dorm rooms. The only problem is the university is getting over crowded because it is such a nice school and everyone wants to come here. Such a wonderful experience. ...Continue reading

I have one week left of my freshman year here and it feels like I just moved in! Definitely something for everyone. Beyond the solid education, forming friendships and creating life-long memories are worth the price of admission alone. Cyclone POWER!! Even though most people are not interested in being in the middle of Iowa, ISU's campus is gorgeous and the Ames community is extremely friendly. ...Continue reading

Iowa State is an amazing university. Coming from the Twin Cities I thought it would be really boring, but honestly I'd never thought that I would say I don't want to leave Ames. Amazing professors, beautiful campus, stellar Greek life (61 frats and sororities!), and the best year of my life. There are a lot of opportunities to succeed, there is a lot of help from the professors and faculty members. I can say that you fail class only if you do not seek for help. From tutoring to free supplemental instruction, counseling and the great staff that works always with a smile in their face and willing to help. ...Continue reading

If you grew up in an area with any diversity, coming to Ames, IA will be a bit of a culture shock. A lot of hype is made about their Agronomy Dept, but only one instructor knew how to teach. The majority of the research projects are going to be found at the bottom of a trash can in several years because they aren't applicable in real life. Faculty are cold to grad students. Undergrads & grads would have better luck elsewhere. ...Continue reading

Ames in of itself is beautiful. Beautiful campus with alot of good places to hang out or to cry after your tests. Only real complaint the internet in my dorm. It works for general purposes, but if I try and play a game with a friend online, it is almost unbearable. Thankfully, I'm not really a gamer. Either way, there's no way that outweighs how great a school it is It's beautiful all year round. You have the old elegant buildings, a quad, and a campanile, with sculptures littering the campus. The bussing system is excellent and is intertwined with the city. The library is huge. So many opportunities to get involved, you will never be bored. ...Continue reading

It's a big school with a lot going on and opportunity to get involved, though Ames itself isn't the most exciting place to live. One thing I am worried about is the demographics. Most of the class will fail. He does 90% of lecture and then works one of the first problems as an example and he can't even do them correctly. Everyday sends out an email correcting what he messed up. Do NOT take him, most of us just use the grader, and Kahn Academy to learn the material. Just by the board problems he would fail his own course. ...Continue reading
