As a person of colour from an urban area, Notre Dame was a culture shock. There's always something going on, and something to eat, and even without Greek life, there's always a party on the weekends (excluding finals and midterms). However, the amount of resources available and the number of groups on campus targeting diversity issues and inclusion are innumerable. After a semester, you get used to the atmosphere and the location. There also isn't a need to go off campus because of the safety on campus!
