Nice campus (swell landscaping and pretty facilities) Tallahassee is godless. For being known as a party school FSU actually has a large network of employers and some distinguished programs. I skipped Ivy League to go here and don't regret it at all. Always a party, faculty is nice, area is cheap, school is affordable, and you can find a job easily. Great place to be. FSU is a great school with a beautiful campus and many opportunities. FSU is a pretty good school. Regardless of that, there are many opportunities here and chances to make connections. After completing my first year, I feel like it could have been better. Florida state university is a great school. I don't have any of the problems that my friends who go to other schools complain about. Dr. Robbins is hilarious, but make sure you study. I would have done better if I took an extra day or two. Essay grades were fair except that TA who graded mine was wrong with occasional parenthetical citation placements (of which I would cross reference with the MLA handbook). I looked forward to coming to her class. Yes you have to go to every class, but it was one of those classes that you wanted to go! She makes the lectures so interesting! Made me excited to go to class everyday! Definitely have to be a good note taker to do well. If youre up for the work and up for a comedy show twice a week take AMH with her! DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!! He is very quirky, but also entertaining. He brings in some great guest speakers, and the Binder, which is your whole grade, is easy if you get everything done early. I took the online class fall 2016 and it's just like a lot of writing assignments all due on one day towards the end of the semester. Hochwarter is a pretty interesting dude. He is not a bad teacher at all but the subject matter isn't anything too difficult. However do not underestimate his tests. They focus very much on the details in his study guides (i.e. numbers). I am currently taking him for summer but wish I would of taken a different teacher. This class is a huge pain and it could be a really interesting subject if he didn't waste everyones time by making meaningless lecture videos. All you learn is useless factoids. The behavior of the professor is bordering on DISRESPECTFUL considering that many students (LIKE ME) are paying a lot of money and taking out loans for our education here. P.S Don't miss anything. Messed up a submission and it cost me 10 - 20% of my grade. Why? I'm not sure because I didn't learn anything. Idk what the point of this class is. THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. She is extremely entertaining & makes the material very interesting. There is no textbook you watch movies, like Gangs of New York, instead. There are 2 essays and 2 exams, so you have to work hard to get good grades, but it is easy to make it to this class because she's so fun. I loved her & this class. As long as you go to class, take good notes, and study, you'll do fine. Didnt use the text books at all. She makes the lectures fun and its actually entertaining to go to her class. I definitely recommend her! ...Continue reading

Ok, her lectures are a little hard to follow, but hey it's not like we are supposed to be spoon fed everything in life. She gets a little side tracked but does give a lot of extra credit and lets class out early. She is a very nice lady. ...Continue reading

The idea of the class is to make you THINK on your own. It is hard to succeed when the instructions are so bare bones. Grading is very subjective and there is no feedback. A chunk of your grade is determined by pestering people for his research. And I really do mean pestering. Good sense of humor, though. The other reviews are totally valid and true, as well. However, you start to formulate some of your own opinions, thoughts, and ideas. Gives some people an idea of how ridiculous the workplace can be instead of the theoretical textbook version. It's a very realistic class in this sense. ...Continue reading

Hochwarter is an interesting guy as he makes comments that make you laugh at him and not with him. You only get slides and study guide online. The test on confusing so study your butt off on the study guide. The exams are tricky. If you didn't hand in the work he won't help you out. He will not give you extension on the work. It doesn't matter if you sick, or prolly even a car accident. Dont take him. The course consists of paper after paper with over 19,000 words at the end of the semester. The material is vague and when you ask for help it feels as though you are bothering him and he comes off as disrespectful. Easy grader but a ton of work ...Continue reading

Great professor and very nice. Honestly, the reviews here along with the business adviser not recommending taking Hochwarter had me so nervous to take this class! It was a LOT of writing but I love that there are no tests and there is a chance to be exempt from the final! Overall, it was simple but lots of busy work. ...Continue reading
