(choose chapter or problem)

Test your technology. This exercise requires a calculator with a standarddeviation button or statistical software on a computer. The observations10,001 10,002 10,003have mean x = 10, 002 and standard deviation s = 1. Adding a 0 in the center ofeach number, the next set becomes100,001 100,002 100,003The standard deviation remains s = 1 as more 0s are added. Use your calculatoror software to find the standard deviation of these numbers, adding extra 0s untilyou get an incorrect answer. How soon did you go wrong? This demonstrates thatcalculators and software cannot handle an arbitrary number of digits correctly.
