Auto thermostats. A maker of auto air conditioners checks a sample of4 thermostatic controls from each hours production. The thermostats are set at75F and then placed in a chamber where the temperature rises gradually. Thetemperature at which the thermostat turns on the air conditioner is recorded. Theprocess mean should be = 75. Past experience indicates that the responsetemperature of properly adjusted thermostats varies with = 0.5. The meanresponse temperature x for each hours sample is plotted on an x control chart.Calculate the center line and control limits for this chart.
