QUESTION:

Continuity of composite functions  At what points of \(\mathbf{R}^{2}\) are the following functions continuous?

f(x, y)=sin xy

ANSWER:

Solution 35E

Find the points of R2 where the function is continuous.

        f(x, y) = sin xy

Step 1 of 3:

Continuity of Composite function

If u = g(x , y) is continuous at (a , b) and z = f(u) is continuous at g(a , b), then the composite function z = f(g(x , y)) is continuous at (a , b).

Here the giving function is Composite function where

        g (u) = sin u  and  u = h (x , y) = xy
