Determine the mass (in g) of each sucrose solution that contains 12 g of sucrose.

(a) 4.1% sucrose by mass

(b) 3.2% sucrose by mass

Here, we are going to calculate  the mass (in g) of each sucrose solution that contains 12 g of sucrose by using the formula of mass percent.

Mass percent is defined as

Mass percent (%) =-----(1)

(a) 4.1% sucrose by mass

Given that,

Mass percent of sucrose = 4.1%= 4.1/100 =0.041

Mass of the solute = 12 g

From the equation (1)

Mass percent (%) =

Mass of the solution  == = 292.68 g

                        

Thus,  the mass of each sucrose solution that contains 12 g of sucrose is 292.68 g.

(b) 3.2% sucrose by mass

Given that,

Mass percent of sucrose = 3.2%= 3.2/100 =0.032

Mass of the solute = 12 g

From the equation (1)

Mass percent (%) =

Mass of the solution  == = 375 g

                        

Thus,  the mass of each sucrose solution that contains 12 g of sucrose is 375 g.

(c) 12.5% sucrose by mass

Given that,

Mass percent of sucrose = 12.5%= 12.5/100 =0.125

Mass of the solute = 12 g

From the equation (1)

Mass percent (%) =

Mass of the solution  == = 96 g

                        

Thus,  the mass of each sucrose solution that contains 12 g of sucrose is 96 g.
