Chapter 4 Problem 4RCQ

Question

Once the crate is sliding, how hard do you push to keep it moving at constant velocity?

Solution

Step 1 of 2

It is necessary that the acceleration of the crate must be equal to zero to move the crate at constant velocity. It is known that the acceleration has direct relationship with the net force. Therefore, the net force will be zero if acceleration is zero. The net force is equal to the sum of all the forces acting on the object.
