Step 1:

(a)921 torr

The pressure of gas = 921 torr

        It is known that 760 torr = 1 atm

        921 torr = 921 torr 1 atm/760 torr = 1.21184

Therefore the pressure of the gas in atmosphere  is  1.21184 atm.

Step 2:

(b) 4.8× 104Pa

Pressure of gas = 4.8× 104Pa

We will  use the conversion factor, to convert the pressure in pa to atm.

            pressure in atm = (pressure on Pa)  (1 atm/1.01325 x 105 Pa)

                             = (4.8× 104Pa) (1 atm/1.01325 105 Pa)

                             =4.8× 104 Pa /1.01325  105  atm ((the Pa unit cancels out)

    =4.7372 10-1 atm

Therefore the pressure of the gas in atmosphere  is 4.7372 10-1 atm
