QUESTION:

Two crickets, Chirpy and Milada, jump from the top of a vertical cliff. Chirpy just drops and reaches the ground in 3.50 s, while Milada jumps horizontally with an initial speed of 95.0 cm/s. How far from the base of the cliff will Milada hit the ground?

ANSWER:

Step 1 of 2

For each cricket,  = 0 and  = 9.8

For Chirpy,  =  = 0

For Milada,  = 0.950 m/s and  = 0

Milanda’s also reaches the ground in 3.50 s so her horizontal component of velocity has no effect on her vertical motion
