QUESTION:

A piece of silver (Ag) metal weighing 194.3 g is placed in a graduated cylinder containing 242.0 mL of water. The volume of water now reads 260.5 mL. From these data calculate the density of silver.

ANSWER:

Step 1 of 2

Here we have to calculate the density of silver.

In this question it has been given that

Mass of silver = 194.3 g

Initial volume of water = 242.0 mL

Final volume of water = 260.5 mL

Hence the volume of silver = Final volume - initial volume = (260.5 - 242.0) mL

\(=18.5 \mathrm{~mL} \text { or } 18.5 \mathrm{~cm}^{3}\)
