Metals are defined as the lattice of ions that are positive that is surrounded by a group of delocalised electrons. They can be distinguished with their ionization energy and properties of bonding. Metals usually have  electrons on their outer shell.

Nonmetals are the elements that are usually known as a poor conductor of electricity and heat. They have the opposite properties of metals. They  usually have  electrons on their outer shell.

Metalloids are the elements which partly have the metallic and nonmetallic properties. They visually look like metals but have the brightness of the nonmetals.
