QUESTION:

Problem 8E

In answer to the question “What keeps Earth moving around the Sun?” a friend asserts that inertia keeps it moving. Correct your friend’s erroneous assertion.

ANSWER:

Solution 8E

Step 1 :

To  what keeps Earth is moving around the Sun

Earth is moving around the Sun because of the gravitational pull exerted on Earth from Sun.

Now we all know that the Sun is the center of our solar system , hence it has the maximum gravitational pull , if the planets in solar did not have planetary orbits which are circular in some cases and elliptical in some cases, all the planets would collapse into the Sun and burn

Hence it is the gravitational pull which is responsible for the earth to move around the Sun
