Statistical signifi cance, I A randomized comparative experiment examines whether a calcium supplement in the diet reduces the blood pressure of healthy men. Th e subjects receive either a calcium supplement or a placebo for 12 weeks. Th e researchers conclude that the blood pressure of the calcium group was signifi cantly lower than that of the placebo group. Signifi cant in this conclusion means statistically signifi cant.
